Ingredients
Steps
Cook 4 or 5 chicken breasts, or pressure cook them.
Take the chicken out of the pot.
Add 1 can of chicken broth, 1/2 stick of butter, 2 1/2 or 3 cups milk, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon salt to the pot.
Bring to a boil, then lower heat to medium.
To make dumplings: combine 2 cups self-rising flour, 1/2 cup Crisco, and 3/4 cup milk or buttermilk.
In a large mixing bowl, cut or mix the Crisco into the flour, then add the milk or buttermilk. Stir with a fork until the mixture leaves the side of the bowl.
Put flour in the bowl and add the mixture. Knead the flour in until no longer sticky.
Pinch off dough in hand just like making biscuits, except pat flat and drop into the pot.
Continue adding dumplings or biscuits to the pot until you use all the dough.
Cook on medium or low until done, stirring in the pot once or twice; simmer for a few minutes.
